On July 3, the Zijing?Yaoshan Tunnel—a control project of the Liuzhou–Wuzhou Railway—was successfully bored through.
Constructed by The First Engineering Bureau of CREC, the Zijing Yaoshan Tunnel is 8,888 meters long, the longest among the 54 tunnels on the line. It traverses the southern foothills of Dayao Mountain in Guangxi and features highly complex geology—class IV and V surrounding rock makes up 44.5% of the tunnel, and water-rich zones account for 38%.
As of breakthrough, the team had secured 2 authorized invention patents and 6 utility model patents, authored 6 research papers (2 published in core journals), won a second prize for provincial-level QC achievements, drafted 4 provincial-level construction methods, and filed for one software copyright.
The Liuzhou Wuzhou?Railway is a critical section of the Liuzhou–Guangzhou Railway, with a total mainline length of 238.167 kilometers. It is a double-track electrified line for both passenger and freight use, designed for speeds up to 160 km/h. Once operational, it will improve regional integrated transport networks and expand transportation corridors, supporting the integration of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, and central Guangxi into the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
